General Tao Chicken

This is another one of the most famous Asian dishes out there and most recommended to try if you want to add variety in the kitchen. It is an ideal meal to try with family, friends and even on a date. This meal is a mixture of sweet and spicy flavors. It is recommended to serve this meal with rice and/or boiled vegetables. Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. Cleaned chicken breast cut into bite size pieces.
  • 6 tablespoon Flour.
  • 4 teaspoon Sesame oil.
  • 2 tablespoon Soy sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons + ¼ cup Cornstarch.
  • 2 tablespoons Grinned ginger root.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder.
  • ½ teaspoon Ground black pepper.
  • ½ cup Chopped green onion.
  • ½ cup Water.
  • ½ cup Sugar.
  • ½ cup Vegetable oil.
  • ¼ cup Ketchup.
  • ¼ cup Oyster Sauce.
  • ¼ cup White vinegar.
  • 2 Eggs.

Directions

  1. Cover chicken pieces with the ¼ cup of cornstarch, then in a separate bowl beat the eggs along with salt and pepper.
  2. After beating the eggs until thickened, stir in the flour and baking power until they become smooth and well blended in together.
  3. Dip the chicken pieces in the egg sauce and coat them evenly.
  4. Pour the vegetable oil in a heated wok or the pan u desire, then once the oil is heated start cooking the chicken pieces until they are golden brown and well cooked then place it aside.
  5. To make the famous General Tao dressing homemade style, you need stir in the sesame oil, green onion, and ginger in a hot wok or pan until the ginger semi brown and onion is softened.
  6. Then pour in vinegar and water along with sugar and let it boil.
  7. Once it starts to boil blend in the cornstarch that is mixed with the soy sauce and also add in the ketchup with the oyster sauce then keep stirring until the sauce is thickened and no longer bubbly.
  8. Finally after sauce is completed stir in the chicken pieces until they’re hot again.
