A substance similar to that found in the coughing syrups is found in hot red  peppers. Use red cayenne peppers with caution it can irritate your stomach.

Having A Cold?   Eat Garlic

Clear up that stuffy head with garlic. Remember, garlic lowers cholesterol, too.
A quick recipe that would also help clear throat, stuffy head and running nose would be by drinking a mix of some lemon juice with beaten or smashed garlic mixed with a dash of salt.

Having Asthma?   Eat Onions

Eating onions helps ease constriction of bronchial tubes. Onion packs place on chest helped the respiratory ailments and actually made breathing better.
